Choose based on your available throw distance, not brand loyalty. Standard throw projectors typically need about 9 to 17 feet to fill a 12x7 foot screen depending on the model, which works if you can mount high or offset with keystone correction. Short throw units need as little as 7 feet but cost roughly $500 or more over an equivalent standard throw projector with similar features.

The Optoma ZK521ST-B is a laser-powered short-throw projector designed for golf simulator installations where space is limited. It offers native 4K UHD resolution at 5,000 lumens of brightness, along with DuraCore laser technology rated for up to 30,000 hours without lamp replacement. Smart setup tools such as Smart Fit, Smart Move, H/V keystone, and four-corner adjustment help align the image to a simulator screen without extensive manual calibration, making it suited for both home and commercial golf simulator setups.
