The state of sim golf
Who actually plays sim golf, counted from the members of this site: what they shoot, what they run, and how big the room is. Every figure on this page is computed the moment you load it, from real member records rather than from a survey.
This is a snapshot, not a history. It describes the community as it stands right now, and it makes no comparison to any earlier point. We keep no community wide record of what these numbers were before, so a claim about how they have moved is one we could not check, and a distribution that shifts because new members joined would say nothing about anyone playing better. Every figure below is the present state and only that.
Who is counted. Handicaps come from members with a public profile whose handicaps are synced from their tour play, the same members the handicap leaderboard ranks. Gear and rooms come from published builds only, one build per member, which is the same build their profile shows as the sim they run today. A member who has not published is not in this data.
Nobody is named. Everything here is a count over a group. Where a figure rests on so few members that it would effectively point at one of them, we withhold it and say so instead of printing it.
What the community shoots
Across 117 members with a synced handicap, the median is 1.
Counts of members, not rounds. The bars are scaled to the largest band; the number beside each one is the raw count, and the bands add up to the 117 members stated above.
What the community runs
10 members run both a launch monitor and simulator software we can identify, and no single pairing is shared by the 3 members we require before naming one. Naming a pairing one or two members run would point at those members rather than describe the community.
How big the room is
The median published build sits in a room 21 ft long and 16.4 ft wide, across 51 builds that state both.
Length and width are medians taken separately over the same builds, so they describe the middle of each dimension rather than one particular room. Builders enter these themselves when they publish. If you are planning yours, the build tool checks a real room against real gear.
These figures describe the members of this site, not golf simulator owners everywhere, and they change as members join, publish and sync. Nothing here is a projection or a forecast. Handicaps are the MSS handicap shown on a member profile, synced from their tour play; gear and rooms come from what members entered on the builds they chose to publish.
